First, a few general remarks on the specific characteristics of Menander's (Nea's) new Attic comedy and on Roman comedies which often borrowed from models (Palliata), reflections on fr. 4 of the Disexapaton translated by Plautus in lines 816-817 of the Bacchides and also the reason why the main character's name was changed from Syrus to Chrysales. We will then proceed with a comparison between the retrieved fragments of the Greek play and the corresponding extracts of the Roman play, this will concern the economy of the plot using the differences in structure of the genres to which both comedies belong. The analysis underlines the faithfulness of the Plautinian adaptation.
