The purpose of this paper is to review the current state of the art in the prediction of bicycle use using simplified regional models. These models attempt to predict areas or zones of relatively intensive bicycle usage within a county or large urban area. Dade County, Florida, which contains the Miami-Hialeah Urbanized Area, will be used as the case study for this report. The recent completion of two separate studies of bicycle use and an intensive bicycle-count project within the County allow for a comparison of different methods of predicting bicycle use on a census tract basis.
