Before more than one decade Istrian Malvasia wine has not been standardized product in technology and quality, and as such it was almost unknown to consumers, especially tourists. In the last decade, with continued and high quality work in wine-grower and winemaking production, standards in quality of Istrian Malvasia wine have been reached. The quality is regular confirming on the annual local exhibition „ Vinistra on which this wine is evaluating with high marks and many gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as on the other exhibitions on national and international levels. Such products have been recognized by the consumers on the local market. The research carried out in 2002. refer to the recognizability of typical Istrian products. The Istrian Malvasia wine was on the high third place, from 12 offered products. 53% of the examinee recognized the Istrian Malvasia wine as the typical product of the region. Furthermore, the Istrian Malvasia wine is on the first place, from 12 offered products, according to the local market offer. We can conclude that the Istrian Malvasia wine could be concurrent product on national market as well on the international market.
