Abstract

Abstract: Information and guidelines about business forecasting are presented in this article for managers and business professionals. A 20-point forecaster's chart describes the available forecasting tools. The article also provides important considerations concerning forecasting including: time horizon; technical sophistication; cost; and data availability. Techniques to improve forecasting include: combining forecasts, simulating various outcomes and using judgment. A detailed manager's guide to forecasting in chart format is included.(mp)
