This case study relates how librarians at Abilene Christian University used evidence-based practice to improve an information literacy unit integrated within a freshman seminar first-year experience. The article traces the development of the information literacy unit over an eight-year period. It presents the variety of approaches the library tried over time, analyzing strategies that were effective as well as those that were not, and chronicling what was changed with a special emphasis on rationales for the change. From these insights, the article presents key principles for a successful library program and illustrates evidence-based librarianship in action.
