This paper reviews a wide variety of contributions to traffic equilibrium analysis. It considers a general equilibrium model and a number of its specializations from several perspectives: modelling of equilibrium situations, existence and uniqueness of equilibrium solutions, and algorithms for computing a solution. The discussion treats special equilibrium problems that can be modelled as equivalent optimization problems, and studies more complex problems that can be modelled as fixed point, nonlinear complemental, or variational inequality problems.
