This article examines the relationship between foreign aid/international trade and economic growth. Empirical results show that foreign aid does not promote economic growth in many cases; on the other hand, international trade does promote economic growth in many cases. Each country has its own appropriate measures by which to determine economic growth; however, too much dependence on aid in general may harm economic growth. In reality, foreign aid is not significantly related to economic growth. However, international trade is an important factor that may promote economic growth in many cases. Foreign aid is necessary, but some countries and donors may benefit from more effective use of this type of aid.
