Writing in the Margins: Norse Arthurian Sagas as Palimpsests

Abstract

This is a comparative study of three Old Norse translations/adaptations of French romances. The focus is on certain of the modifications made in the Norse romances as part of the process of 'acculturation,' the need to modify texts to align them with the differing assumptions of another cultural context.
