WACHS, THEODORE D. Relation of Infants' Performance on Piaget Scales between Twelve and Twenty-four Months and Their Stanford-Binet Performance at Thirty-one Months. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1975, 46, 929-935. 23 infants, taking part in a longitudinal study on experience and cognitive-intellectual development, were tested at 3-month intervals between 12 and 24 months on the Uz gris-Hunt scale, a Piaget-based scale of infant development. At 31 months, the infants were administered the Stanford-Binet. The relationship between each of the Piagetian abilities tapped by the Uzgiris-Hunt scale and subsequent Binet performance were analyzed. Results indicated that each of the subscales of the Uzgiris-Hunt scale was significantly correlated with subsequent Binet scores. Of the 8 subscales, object permanence correlated the most strongly with Binet performance:.
