Three experiments using brief, audio tape recordings as models, demonstrated observational learning of inkblot percept categories. The tapes created significant increases over baseline scores for all three classes of determinants, and two of three location classes studied; with the exception noted, Ss generalized to a new set of inkblot stimuli the percept categories they had heard. Further, except for one class of determinants, the modeling tapes induced increases in all other categories significantly greater than the spontaneous changes of a non-modeling control group. The implications of the results for observational learning of cognitive behavior and for clinical use of projective techniques were discussed.
