The characteristics of in-migration to Tel Aviv Israel are analyzed for period 1962-1988. The authors conclude that the formation of a new in-migration stream to inner city...in 1960s does not fit gentrification model. Instead groups of new middle class were attracted to inner city where they replaced elderly middle-class households that were in final stages of their life cycles. Gentrification in southern fringe of inner city is merely a by-product of major process. (EXCERPT)
