Abstract

I do not think anybody really wants to see one land law for Australian Aborigines and another land law for other Australians. I think it would tend to divide the Australian community. I think it would bring about...[a] white backlash (Ralph Hunt, Minister for the Environment, Aborigines and the Arts, 1972, quoted in Bennett 1989, 30).
