Family counselling and support during the dependency evaluation process and the Individualized Care Plan. The demand for the type of information and support provided primarily by social workers has been on the rise since the Act for Personal and Independence Care for Dependent Persons came into effect in 2006. The present report describes these professionals’ intervention in the area of visual disability, based essentially on an explanation of the key aspects of the act, in particular the evaluation process and access to services and benefits. The experience and specialization of social workers in this field and their proximity to the direct beneficiaries and their families are the factors that justify their participation in the formulation of the Individualized Care Plan. Their intervention helps avoid duplication, rationalize management and ensure quality support for users.
