The Competitiveness Of RMG Industry Of Bangladesh After Some Tragic Incidents: An Overview Of The Present Compliance Practice At RMG Sector Of Bangladesh

Abstract

The readymade garment (RMG) sector is a success story for Bangladesh. The industry has started its journey in the late 1970s, expanded heavily in the 1980s and boomed in the 1990s (12). There is a rapid growth of industrialization in Bangladesh. Most of the manufacturing companies in Bangladesh are labor-intensive, particularly the readymade garment (RMG) industry. Despite the phenomenal success of the RMG sector, the following comprehensive factors related arrangement for lack of safe environment, insufficient Health and hygiene facilities and poor working condition, fire incident and building collapse are other serious concerns. This study is focused following factors like proper training, safe environment and better working condition, accommodation facility, payment, monitoring and controlling ,medical facility, first aid arrangement ,work place violence, lodge complains facility, child care room, child labor, sudden termination and international agencies and buyers influence. Among thirteen factors five factors incurred negative answer. The stake holders of RMG sector need to more focus on these factors. This study can be a guide line to establish social compliance if stakeholder concentrate this.
