The importance of anger management and nonviolent conflict resolution are discussed and related to therapeutic practice. Additionally, the results of two studies concerning the imagery and expression of anger are presented. In both studies, college students completed a drawing representing anger and Spielberger's State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI). Findings included a significant positive correlation between intensity of anger imagery and State Anger (r = .26, p < .05, one-tailed test N = 46) and a significant chi-square value for a test of independence between imagery themes and STAXI scores (χ2 = 9.73, p < .05, N = 92). The results support clinical experience and suggest an art therapy approach to anger management for further development.
