In recent decades the Expressive Arts Therapies have become well established in practice within clinical treatment contexts, especially as part of integrated approaches. This development gave rise to the founding of the working group »Expressive Arts Therapies« within the DKPM. For the first time, the Expressive Arts Therapies were officially represented as an academic working group within an academic medical association. The group provides the framework both for subject-specific and interdisciplinary exchange among all Expressive Arts Therapists engaged in psychosomatics as well as other interested members of the Collegiate. In the long term, the working group aims to contribute to the further recognition of Expressive Arts Therapies and to intensify research into Expressive Arts Therapies in psychosomatic medicine.
