Abstract

David Freeman directs the Language Development Program and Yvonne Freeman directs the Bilingual Education Program at Fresno Pacific College in Fresno, California. Both are interested in whole language for second language learners. In addition to doing staff development with school districts across the country, they present regularly at national and state conferences. The number of students in American public schools who speak English as a second language has grown steadily over the last few years.
