Abstract

This distinction, which crosscuts the transitive/intransitive verb distinction, is grammatically relevant: each type of verb shows its own pattern of argument realization (Fillmore 1970, RHL these actions are often used to remove stuff from a surface. HOWEVER, such result verbs don’t entail the manners, nor do such manner verbs entail the results.
