This chapter examines the history of psychology during the Age of Enlightenment. It analyzes the essential bond between psychology and anthropology and the human sciences and describes the forms taken by the psycho-anthropological field across Enlightenment Europe. It also discusses the methodological self-consciousness of empirical psychology which philosopher Immanuel Kant saw as a sign of the maturity of the discipline. This chapter also mentions that Kant advocated for the inclusion of empirical psychology in university curricula.
