This chapter shows the implications of the various responses that are closely analyzed. Comparing the responses, three common patterns are identified. First, there is the statist-juridical response, it is protectionist and state-led. Second, there is the strongly neocorporatist response, it is protectionist and based on the consent and input of the social partners. Third, there is the intermediate neocorporatist response which is liberal and shaped by the employers as the stronger side. This response extends only minimum wages to posted workers. The more protectionist responses elsewhere underline both resilience to change and the persistence of national differences in responding to closer European integration.
