One group of Christine de Pizan’s Livre des fais d’armes et de chevalerie manuscripts suppresses all trace from the author and every linguistic mark of a female speaker (Groupe B). This article reconsiders the production context of this rewriting and supports its attribution to the Flemish copyist, bookseller and compilator Guillebert de Mets (active in Geraardsbergen between 1420 and 1440). On the basis of an investigation of Guillebert de Mets profile (copy, correction, compilation and rewriting practices ; exemplars used ; iconography featured ; network), the article shows that Guillebert is the perfect candidate for this rewriting and that he could have been attempting to efface a competing authorial figure of book and texts manufacturer.
