Neural correlates of age-related slowing discusses two issues related to the identification of neural substrates of well-documented relations between age and measures of speed of processing. One issue concerns the extent to which neural-speed relations are unique to a particular combination of measures, or are at least partially reflect influences operating at broader levels. A second issue concerns the type of evidence relevant to establishing correlates of age-speed relations, and not simply correlates of speed at a single age. The chapter concludes with several recommendations for methodological changes to address these issues.
