Wine Industry and Tourism Innovation and Knowledge Management Regional Development and Innovation

Abstract

This research investigates the knowledge sharing mechanisms in the Swan ValleyWine Tourism cluster, located northeast and adjacent to Perth, Australia. For thisexploratory research we will utilise documentary sources including organisationalmaterials (web sites, brochures), tourist material, public documents and materials frompeak organisations such as the vignerons association. This research represents theinitial stage of a larger research process that will include surveys and interviews.Questions asked include: How does proximity promote knowledge exchange in theSwan Valley cluster? What proximity related transfer mechanisms are operational inthe cluster?Can public policy contribute to and support the knowledge transfer process?
