Abstract Although a 2014 Conference Board survey of coaching practices within organizations indicates that coaching focuses predominately on developing executives rather than teams, the use of team coaching is predicted to increase rapidly (Abel, Ray, and Nair 2016). The implication for coaches is significant, because coaching teams require additional knowledge sets, such as evidence-based frameworks (Hauser 2012, 2014). The implication for organizations is also significant, because an intervention at any level of the system will in some way influence all the other levels of the organizational system for better or worse (Stevenson 2018). This article breaks new ground by presenting a team intervention model, “Team Coaching Operating System (TCOS),” which is grounded in Gestalt principles and empirical team coaching research. Ultimately, it supports coaches in orchestrating interventions aligned with the team's readiness to make changes that improve its effectiveness and performance.
