The clinical interview of research in education sciences This paper explains a conception of the interview as a research method in social sciences from a clinical viewpoint referring to psychoanalysis. The notion of “ clinical” is used here in the sense of an approach of social sciences, without any therapeutic purpose. This research perspective which relies particularly on the postulate of the unconscious, has implications on the leading of the interview, the researcher’s position, the way his or her implication is taken into account, as well as on the method of analysis of the interviews a posteriori : the treatment of the discourse with reference to the theory of enunciation (the search for traces of the enoncer’s subjectivity), the counter-transfer of the researcher as a source of information (G. Devereux).
