Serving as the federal source of occupational information in the United States since 1998, the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) was established by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment, and Training Administration and is still going strong. Not only does the O*NET collect and provide data on more than 800 occupations, it is a valuable resource for a wide array of stakeholders such as researchers, practitioners, job seekers, career explorers, vocational counselors, businesses, and state, federal, and local government agencies. e O*NET has proved to be much more than a data collection program or a static and simple listing of occupations and descriptions; it is a vast, dynamic, and useful system of information, services, tools, and applications.
