Responding to an interview is a common practice for ministers: It is one of the most common ways for these political agents to access the media. Allowing various uses, it corresponds to the interests and resources they invest in the media-oriented political game. Yet behind the visible simplicity (on the media scene) of this practice is a sizeable amount of work behind the scenes in ministerial cabinets to link various political agents. These agents can occupy specialized roles as communications experts (communication advisor, speech advisor, press officers), as well as roles in purely political games (thematic advisors, chief of staff, and the minister himself). These agents participate in the collective process of producing political interviews, which starts with strategic reflection on programming and negotiation, continues with the preparation of responses in terms of substance and form, and concludes with an assessment of its impact in the journalistic field.
