Visitor's Response to the Technology-Based Interactive Displays and its Placement at the Museum in East Java

Abstract

The development of museums in Indonesia is currently starting to show a change for the better. Several museums in Indonesia have applied interactive displays based on multimedia technology. With the application of technology on museum displays, it is hoped that visitors can interact more closely with historical objects in the museum and maximize the information that can be conveyed so that visitors easily understand it. The problem is not only the visual appearance and content of the display that must be considered. The layout of the display is also very influential on the attention of visitors. Technology-based interactive displays are still relatively new to be applied in museums in Indonesia, so visitor response to their existence and layout needs to be studied further. The purpose of the research is interactive displays based on multimedia technology that is right on target, and the information conveyed can be accepted by museum visitors. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for the placement of technology-based interactive displays in museums.
