Abstract

This entry applies the general concept of information processes to a variety of organizational communication theories. It defines information, with an emphasis on the processing limitations of humans. Next, it discusses information processes in relation to social information processing theory, media richness theory, contingency theory and organizational structure, sensemaking, and employee information seeking behaviors in assimilation.
