The arts, wellbeing and mental healthThere is growing momentum to understand the value of the arts in mental health and wellbeing.Participation in, or exposure to, the arts can promote wellbeing by helping to build resilience, aid recovery and foster social connections (Fancourt & Finn, 2019).Most of the literature and research has focused on reducing anxiety and promoting social inclusion and wellbeing for adults through the arts (Binnie, 2010;Boydell, 2020;Irwin et al., 2022).There is little research on the wellbeing impact of arts engagement programs for young people and children (Hayes et al., 2020;Zarobe & Bungay, 2017).
