The article discusses the main problems of the current strategic planning system in the Russian Federation in the context of a new geopolitical reality. The question is raised about the correlation of directive and indicative elements in the strategic planning documents being developed. The necessity of the final choice of the format of macroterritorial planning (federal districts or macro-regions) is noted The measures proposed by Russian experts to improve the system of planning documents, in particular, initiatives to develop five-year plans for socio-economic development at the federal and regional levels, were evaluated.
