Abstract It is has been argued that functional categories other than C, I, and D exist. The Infl skeleton has been “split” into categories that include several Agr nodes, Tense, and Aspect; likewise, the Det skeleton has been argued to present various Agr nodes, Number, or a Possession node. Splitting the Comp skeleton has a long tradition. Reinhart’s (1979) analysis was based on the premise of two such nodes in certain languages, the origin of what is now commonly referred to as “CP recursion”. And again several nodes have been argued to correspond to the Comp skeleton, a matter I want to discuss here.
