Producing Sense with Nonsense Syllables: Turn and Sequence in Conversations with a Man with Severe Aphasia

Abstract

Abstract This chapter investigates the collaborative production of meaning and action in the speech of a man in his early eighties named Chil diagnosed with severe non fluent aphasia. Our data are drawn from over 200 hours of videotaped naturally occur ring interaction in Chil’s home recorded by Charles Goodwin and Marjorie Harness Goodwin over the past seven years.
