Abstract

Abstract Literature reviews play a crucial role in providing the bridge between research and various areas of policy-making and practice, including those concerned with health inequalities. This is because the practical use of research must take in the whole range of findings on a topic, not just the results from one or two studies. Indeed, the increasing tendency for the mass media to report evidence from single studies in controversial areas is a matter for concern.
