This chapter explores the transformative potential of reverse innovation by illustrating the case study of Wonderbag, a South African company revolutionizing the culinary landscape with a non-electric slow cooker. Through the lens of sustainability, the authors show how an entrepreneurial company born in an emerging market can successfully move over developed economies. The chapter delves into the peculiarities of Wonderbag’s business model, emphasizing the integration of revenue models, production activities, partnerships, and value propositions across markets. Sustainability emerges as a driving force, showcasing the broader impact of frugal and reverse innovations. Despite methodological limitations inherent in a single case study, the chapter contributes theoretically to innovation management and entrepreneurship literature. Practically, it inspires practitioners to learn from a success story and prompts policymakers to foster social entrepreneurship. The work concludes by proposing future research directions exploring the nexus between reverse innovations, sustainability impact, and evolving business models.
