This study focuses on ski instructor retention. Ski instructors are skilled seasonal workers, whose profession is seasonal and highly mobile by nature. The data was collected worldwide by conducting 16 semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate a very strong influence of the work itself on retention. The important elements appear to be clientele, salary, feedback, management, and training. The findings support the results of prior research about the negative impact of seasonality and the positive impact of camaraderie. Area-related issues seem to have greater importance than suggested in the earlier research, where the area was only seen as important from a hobby perspective.
