Understanding the Dynamics of Job Satisfaction, Personal Factors, and Retention in Seafaring

Abstract

All-level sailors' work satisfaction and turnover are examined in this research. This research seeks to identify seafarer work satisfaction and retention variables. Seafarers' quality and retention must improve to support the maritime sector. This research examined how individual traits affect work satisfaction and retention. A total of two hundred employees participated in this study., and a non-probabilistic convenient random sampling method was employed to choose the samples. A methodical and organized questionnaire was utilized to gather the primary data. Additional sources of data., such as articles., journals., and websites., were utilized to gather information. The percentile analysis was employed to examine the distribution of demographic variables., while Pearson's Correlation was utilized to analyze., deduce., and examine the hypothesis regarding the categorical data comprising dependent and independent variables. Consequently., this methodology was adhered to using SPSS-21. A positive and statistically significant correlation has been identified between employee retention and job satisfaction and variables such as personal factors. A reciprocal relationship exists among the variables PFT (personal factor)., JS job satisfaction)., and R(retention). This study exclusively comprises responses from 200 seafarers. As result of the study., that personal factors influence the employment satisfaction of seafarers., which subsequently affects their retention. Thus., improving employment satisfaction among seafarers is essential to avoid low retention rates in the marine industry.
