The Apocalypse of Peter is a compilation of traditions about resurrection. The author may well have quoted one account of Ezekiel's vision of resurrection in verses 7b-8, but then in verse 9 continued with another traditional interpretation of Ezekiel's vision. Whatever the extent of the quotation, it seems fairly clear that in verse 8, following the reference to 'joints' or 'limbs', the quoted text has been summarized rather than quoted verbatim. The mere list of additional components of the body makes no sense as part of Ezekiel's command to the bones. The source of the quotation has been hardly ever discussed, though Buchholz suggests that it may not have been 'taken directly from Ezekiel but from an apocryphal work based on Ezekiel'. The source of the quotation can be identified as the Ezekiel apocalypse which is extant in small fragments, representing several copies of the work, from Qumran Cave 4.Keywords: 4Q Second Ezekiel; apocalypse of Peter; Qumran Cave 4; resurrection
