L'A. tente de determiner si le processus d'acquisition d'une langue seconde est caracterise par une etape universelle de commentaire du theme du discours, ou bien si les apprenants transferent les principales caracteristiques du theme de L1 a L2. Il analyse le comportement de locuteurs natifs anglais apprenant le chinois. Trois tâches de production du discours sont utilisees pour mesurer la performance des apprenants
