Recent research about women entrepreneurs isreviewed, key research questions are identified, and databases are evaluatedthat may facilitate exploration of these issues. Much of the currentliterature focuses on individual women business owners, and the theories mostoften applied to women entrepreneurs are psychological or trait-based. There are, however, secondary databases available to entrepreneurshipresearchers on the World Wide Web.Contacts were made with variousgovernment organizations, associations, database firms, and web-basedbusinesses, uncovering 13 secondary databases, the most complete of which wassold by Dun and Bradstreet, and one association directory. Although using secondary databases may be costly and the data sets may notbe frequently updated, collecting data about women entrepreneurs isnevertheless an engaging means of exploring the entire entrepreneurialphenomenon.(SAA)
