The objective of the study was to investigate whether cooperation activities considered important by software APL entrepreneurs actually occur in a typical case. The results suggest an evolution from exchange to interaction and integration activities, limited to issues of greater acceptance among members of the APL PISO, the case studied. There is a relationship between perceived importance and the effective implementation of joint actions in non--competitive areas such as quality assurance and human resource management. However, topics such as innovation and internationalization are still considered sensitive or improper to joint actions by software APL members in Brazil.
