Abstract

The demand for leadership development in organizations is increasing exponentially. 1 Whether provided internally or externally through business school courses, a diploma earned in a leadership development program is no longer simply the goal of losers, has-beens, or brilliant but eccentric managers, it is something that most young and mid-career executives want to have on their resume. Even senior executives find that participating in such programs can help them cap their career with a move to a CEO or board position, deal with knotty problems, create a legacy, or simply explore, with a group of like-minded peers, the difficulties of being alone at the top.
