Abstract

Summary Are needs for achievement, affiliation, and power, measured by the TAT, generally independent? A review of the literature provides some reassurance, but a number of problems for further research emerge. A shortage of reported data on sex differences and female subjects precludes an unequivocal response to the important theoretical and methodological questions involved.
