Abstract

This volume provides readers with a blueprint for the professional development of urban teachers (K -- 12) that fosters new communities of learning, embraces diversity, and prepares teachers through and collaborative partnerships. Peter Murrell offers nothing less than a new system of practice for urban preparation. His model of a community teacher encompasses more than just the subject matter taught -- it also embraces the communities where urban youth live. Case studies illustrate Murrell's framework in action.
