Involving caregivers as active participants in the life-long education of their children, siblings, or clients requires inviting them to use systematic procedures to deliver effective instruction. In this study, four caregivers used a 4-s constant time delay procedure they had acquired during a previous study (Wall & Gast, 1997) to teach leisure skills to adolescents or young adults with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities. A multiple probe design across behaviors and replicated across four leisure learners demonstrated the success of the participant-instructors in delivering systematic instruction. Results of the study not only contribute to the existing literature on systematic instructional procedures, caregivers' active participation in ongoing educational processes and home-based interventions, but offer several implications for family and teacher education programs, collaborative research models, and ideas for future research.
