This chapter provides a brief critical review of some of the commonly used training evaluation models, including Kirkpatrick, Phillip's return on investment (ROI), context input process product (CIPP), contents/contexts inputs reaction outcomes (CIRO), Brinkerhoff, inputs process outcomes/outputs (IPO), human resources development (HRD) evaluation and Research, Success Case Method, Dessinger-Moseley Full-Scope as well as the self other achievements potential meta-analysis (SOAP-M) evaluation model, a recently proposed model, which seeks to offer a practical framework for use in real world settings. In reviewing these models the chapter critically reviews research studies that have sought to apply these models in practice. The changes in HR with increasing data collection mean that evaluation will continue to grow as organizations seek to prove the value of learning and development.
