Abstract

Research examining alternative conceptions and conceptual change has contributed importantly to our understanding of how learners construct scientific ideas. Extensions of this research have informed instructional approaches that facilitate conceptual change and have contributed to better understandings of how science, or any discipline, might be taught more effectively.
