Generic strategies for managing consultants: Insights from clients' companies in Germany

Abstract

This article shows the need for clients' professionalization and identifies key indicators which suggest a professional management concerning consulting. Against this background, this article develops three generic strategies for managing consultants, and provides empirical insights from German clients' companies which can help managers to develop or improve their own strategies when dealing with consultants.
