Previous studies have shown high levels of labor turnover to be chronic in the tourism industry, especially in hospitality. There have been few studies of labor turnover in resorts. This study examines the factors that precipitate labor turnover in isolated seasonal winter resorts. The investigation was conducted during the peak season in three Australian ski resorts. It was determined that the age of an employee had an inverse relationship with turnover intention. Management and supervisory staff were found to be the most stable group of resort employees, while food and beverage operatives and guest services operatives were the most likely to terminate their employment. The results of Kruskal-Wallis tests indicated that employment-related dissatisfaction factors contribute to turnover intention.
